The Mater Dei Monarchs are on the road again on Tuesday and play against the Windermere Prep Lakers at 3:30 p.m. on December 19th. Mater Dei has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 655 points over their last seven contests.
Mater Dei has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 28 points or more this season. They took their matchup on the road last Saturday with ease, bagging a 84-55 win over El Camino. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
It was another big night for Owen Verna, who scored 25 points along with three steals. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Brannon Martinsen, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Windermere Prep entered their tilt with Bishop Moore with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Windermere Prep took down Bishop Moore 61-46 on Friday. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Windermere Prep has scored all year.
Windermere Prep's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sinan Huan, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and four blocks. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Brandon Bass Jr., who scored 16 points along with six rebounds.
Mater Dei's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-0. As for Windermere Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.
