Softball Recap: Port of Los Angeles Has No Trouble Against Marshall

Port of Los Angeles barely beat Marshall the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Polar Bears were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Barristers on Monday. That's more bragging rights for the Polar Bears, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Alyssa Setka made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nevaeh Randall, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Samantha Russell was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Port of Los Angeles was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .567. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Port of Los Angeles has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Marshall, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-3.
