The Frederick Golden Eagles can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Fort Morgan 83-40 on the road. Given Frederick's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while Fort Morgan is ranked 324th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ian Buffington was his usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was JJ Strojinc, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
JJ Marquez and Aiden Garver certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Marquez scored 12 points along with seven rebounds, while Garver scored 14 points along with three steals.
The win makes it two in a row for Frederick and bumps their season record up to 9-7. As for Fort Morgan, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-14.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Frederick will take on Northridge at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Northridge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 last Thursday. As for Fort Morgan, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Weld Central at 7:00 p.m. on January 27th. Weld Central has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 309 points over their last five matches.
