Winslow has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Show Low Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Winslow had just enough and edged Holbrook out 42-39.
Jauslyn Nells and Jaci Gonnie were among the main playmakers for Winslow as the former dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds and the latter scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Taylin Puhuhefvaya, who scored five points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Show Low put the finishing touches on their 13th blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 44-15 victory over Blue Ridge at home. Show Low pushed the score to 38-8 by the end of the third, a deficit Blue Ridge cut but never quite recovered from.
Aubrie Wilson was her usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. She hasn't dropped below two steals for 13 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Moore, who scored six points along with nine rebounds.
Winslow's victory bumped their record up to 6-17. As for Show Low, their victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 26-2.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Winslow have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 24.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Show Low struggles in that department as they've been averaging 35 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Winslow might still be hurting after the 57-32 loss they got from Show Low when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can Winslow avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
