The Nyack Indians will venture away from home to face off against the Eastchester Eagles at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Nyack will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
Nyack is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitchers stepped up to hand East Ramapo [Ramapo/Spring Valley] a 14-0 shutout on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won three in a row.
Jonah Yo looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Tino Sinishtaj was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Maxwell Martinez was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Nyack always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Eastchester was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took an 11-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of Nyack.
Alex Piergiovanni made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That stolen base was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Joe Pacella, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Nyack's victory bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Eastchester, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
Nyack was able to grind out a solid win over Eastchester in their previous meeting on Thursday, winning 11-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
