The St. Ignatius Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 26 points or more this season. They put the hurt on St. Edward with a sharp 67-41 win on Friday. Despite the win, that was the fewest points St. Ignatius has scored all year.
Jack Zapolnik continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Springer, who scored 14 points.
St. Ignatius' win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.2 points per game. As for St. Edward, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.
St. Ignatius will face off against Brunswick at 12:15 p.m. on Sunday. Brunswick knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matches -- so hopefully St. Ignatius likes a good challenge. St. Edward will be staying on the road on Sunday to face off against Centerville at 8:00 p.m. on January 7th.
