Port St. Lucie hasn't had much luck against Master's Academy recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Jaguars will venture away from home to face off against the Patriots at 4:00 p.m. Port St. Lucie has given up an average of 14.9 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
On Friday, Port St. Lucie needed a bit of extra time to put away Lincoln Park Academy. They had just enough and edged out the Greyhounds 17-16. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Jaguars considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Mia Torres was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing six bases while getting on base in all six of her plate appearances. Those six stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Shawna Caswell, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, Master's Academy made sure to put some runs up on the board against Cambridge Christian on Saturday. The Patriots walked away with a 10-5 win over the Lancers.
Nola Matz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits.
At the plate, Master's Academy let Alison Viersma and Elyanah DeCosta run wild. Viersma went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while DeCosta scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. Gia Gasbarro was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.
Master's Academy's record now sits at 14-4. As for Port St. Lucie, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-8-1.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Port St. Lucie hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .350. However, it's not like Master's Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .340. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Port St. Lucie might still be hurting after the 16-1 loss they got from Master's Academy when the teams last played back in March. Can the Jaguars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
