The Ord Chanticleers lost against the Doniphan-Trumbull Cardinals last Thursday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Ord ended up on the wrong side of a tough 64-39 walloping at the hands of the Cardinals. While losing is never fun, Ord can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while the Cardinals are ranked tenth).
Ord's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elijah Pollard, who scored 17 points along with two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Hinrichs, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Jaden Williams was his usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with seven rebounds and six steals for Doniphan-Trumbull. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. Ty Bennett was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with three steals.
Ord now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Doniphan-Trumbull, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-1.
Ord won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Bison at 3:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Central City will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak. As for Doniphan-Trumbull, they will head out on the road to challenge the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
