The Rock Canyon Jaguars won the last time they faced the Chatfield Chargers, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Rock Canyon slipped by Chatfield 55-54. Given Rock Canyon's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while Chatfield is ranked 66th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rock Canyon to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brooke Harding, who scored 15 points along with five assists. The game was Harding's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Sienna Pillsbury was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Chatfield lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Josie Lynch, who scored 16 points along with five blocks. That's the first time this season that Lynch scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Lodice, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Rock Canyon's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Chatfield, their loss dropped their record down to 3-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rock Canyon will face off against Overland at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Overland knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Rock Canyon likes a good challenge. As for Chatfield, they will head out on the road to face off against Green Mountain at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
