Softball Game Preview: Bell County Bobcats vs. Middlesboro Yellowjackets

Bell County hasn't had much luck against Middlesboro recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Bobcats will look to defend their home field against the Yellowjackets at 5:30 p.m. Bell County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.4 runs per game this season.

While Bell County didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Williamsburg 17-1 on Tuesday. The Bobcats have beaten the Yellow Jackets the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Yellow Jackets has come to flipping the script.

Adyson Scott was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Scott was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Tristan Saylor was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Kenley Foster, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI and two runs.

Bell County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Middlesboro came up short against Jackson County on Monday, falling 14-7.

Bell County's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Middlesboro, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9.

Everything went Bell County's way against Middlesboro in their previous matchup back in March, as Bell County made off with a 13-6 victory. Do the Bobcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Yellowjackets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
