Softball Recap: Kentridge Has No Trouble Against Interlake

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Tahoma, Kentridge was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 16-4 margin over the Interlake Saints. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Chargers considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

Jozi Thompson was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Naomi Benavides was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, three doubles, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Holbrook, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Kentridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Kentridge is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Interlake, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-9.

Looking ahead, Kentridge will be playing at home against Auburn at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Chargers are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on a 13-game losing streak. As for Interlake, they will challenge Tyee at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Saints' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Titans have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season.
