The Parkway Central Colts will square off against the Hillsboro Hawks at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Parkway Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Parkway Central needed a bit of extra time to put away Lafayette. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Lancers. While the Colts didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Auggie Wamhoff was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Sasfai, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Hillsboro's rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Monday. They never let Fredericktown get on the board and left with a 19-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Cody Reese and Landon Lambert dominated on the mound. Reese pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits, while Lambert pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Hunter Grewe was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Brendan Poyner was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Hillsboro kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fredericktown only managed one.
Hillsboro pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Parkway Central, their victory bumped their record up to 7-5.
Parkway Central beat Hillsboro 11-8 when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Do the Colts have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
