The Richwoods Knights can now show off 14 landslide victories after their most recent match on Thursday. Everything went their way against Manual as Richwoods made off with a 65-39 win. Given Richwoods' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 54th, while the Rams are ranked 282nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Several Rams players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nyanna Payton, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds. Payton is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last eight games she's played. Admyre Thompson was another key contributor, scoring three points along with nine steals and seven rebounds.
Richwoods' victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-8. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.6 points per game. As for Manual, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-15.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Richwoods will square off against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Washington has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Manual, they will head out on the road to square off against the Rockets at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
