The Herrin Tigers will take on the Massac County Patriots at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Herrin is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Herrin lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Waltonville, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's game. The Tigers blew past the Spartans 9-2 on Wednesday. The Tigers not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 21st.

Herrin got a great performance from Corbin Roberts as he pitched 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. The Tigers are 2-1 when Roberts allows one or fewer earned runs, but 4-5 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Herrin let Carter McCree and Jaxon Hudson run wild. McCree scored three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Hudson went 2-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most runs McCree has posted since back in March.
Meanwhile, Massac County put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 7-2 win over Harrisburg. Seven seems to be a good number for the Patriots as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Zach Maurer made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brayden Jennings, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Zack Krueger, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Massac County pushed their record up to 8-0 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Herrin, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
Herrin couldn't quite get it done against Massac County when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 8-3. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
