The Bell Creek Academy Panthers are on the road again on Thursday and plays the Cardinal Newman Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on February 15th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Bell Creek Academy extended their postseason success on Saturday against Santa Fe Catholic. They escaped with a win against the Hawks by the margin of a single free throw, 58-57. Winning is a bit easier when you make five more threes than your opponent, as Bell Creek Academy did.
Bell Creek Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jones, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Jones is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Caleb Sanders, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Cardinal Newman had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18 points), and they went ahead and made it nine on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 74-60 win over King's Academy.
Bell Creek Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 16-11 record this season. As for Cardinal Newman, they pushed their record up to 22-5 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.
