The Tussey Mountain Titans are taking a road trip to challenge the Northern Bedford County Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Tussey Mountain is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
While Tussey Mountain's victory against Mount Union wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Titans narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Trojans 3-2.
Joslyn Raley was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adyson Weyandt, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Olivia Mills, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Northern Bedford County hadn't done well against Everett recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Panthers never let the Warriors get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.
Not much got past Mylee Mitchell, who gave up just three hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Everett off the board.
At the plate, Northern Bedford County's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Molli Stepisianos, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
Tussey Mountain's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Northern Bedford County, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Tussey Mountain has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Northern Bedford County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Tussey Mountain couldn't quite get it done against Northern Bedford County when the teams last played back in April as they fell 7-4. Can the Titans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
