Central State Eight recap Oct. 3, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Springfield, who took down 73rd ranked Jacksonville, 26-21. Brinton Wilkey threw for 141 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 63 yards in the win.
Rochester extended the longest winning streak in Central State Eight this week by beating Glenwood, 41-35. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Rockets.
Rochester's dynamic duo of Austin Green and Blake Pasley proved tough for the Titans to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Green threw for 329 yards and one touchdown and Pasley had 250 yards receiving. Gabe Ferguson helped Rochester's passing attack out by catching two balls for 34 yards.
Malik Harrison was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 158 yards on 19 carries as the Senators topped Glenwood.
6-foot-2 quarterback Green of the Rockets is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1529. He has also thrown 10 touchdowns. On the ground, Springfield's Wilkey has rushed for 545 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Reggie Bratton. The Jacksonville star has 33 catches for 650 yards.
A big matchup in Central State Eight this week will be when Southeast takes on Rochester. At the moment, the Spartans are in fifth, while the Rockets are in second.
Taylorville moved up to 245 from 327 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Tornadoes were able to make the jump by beating Lincoln 36-0.
