The Kermit Yellow Jackets's game last Tuesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They blew past Compass Academy 57-30 on the road. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-6.
Kermit was led to victory by Jaden Bejarano and Diego Juarez. Bejarano scored ten points along with five assists and three steals, while Juarez scored 16 points along with eight rebounds. Bejarano is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zeke Espino, who scored nine points.
Despite the defeat, Compass Academy saw an underclassman step up: Liam Gahr dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Tanner Gahr, who scored seven points.
Kermit's win bumped their record up to 17-13. As for Compass Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-18 record this season.
Kermit will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Crane at 6:30 p.m. Kermit is facing Crane at the right time seeing as Crane is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Compass Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Alpine at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Alpine has 11 straight wins, Compass Academy has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
