There's no place like home for the Island Coast Gators, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Tuesday. They secured a 74-69 W over Estero on Thursday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Island Coast to victory, but perhaps none more so than MarKey Pointer, who scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of SirJoshua Anderson, who scored 13 points.
Despite the loss, Estero saw an underclassman step up: Ashton Peterson scored 21 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds. Peterson scored a full 30.4% of Estero's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Drew Arrington, who scored 18 points along with 5 rebounds.
The victory got Island Coast back to even at 2-2. As for Estero, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Island Coast will take on Oasis at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Oasis focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Thursday. As for Estero, they will be playing at home against Canterbury at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Canterbury will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 239th, while Estero is ranked 119th).
