Basketball Recap: Spanish River Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Spanish River needed a changed in momentum after dropping seven straight games and they got it from Ellie Neuman. The Spanish River Sharks breezed by the Benjamin Buccaneers to the tune of 53-18 on Monday thanks in part to Neuman, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 19 rebounds. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in boards.

Another player making a difference was Gianna Vitello, who posted six points and four steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.

Benjamin's loss came despite strong showings from CJ Smith and Maddie Amorosino. Smith put up a point and five steals, while Amorosino had a point.

Spanish River's victory bumped their record up to 3-11. As for Benjamin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-7.

Spanish River wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 65-35 defeat against Pine Crest on the 14th. Benjamin has also already played their next game, a 52-29 loss against Park Vista on the 14th.
