The Wakefield Wolverines will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Northern Guilford Nighthawks at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Wakefield will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Wakefield beat Enloe 54-48. Given Wakefield's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while Enloe is ranked 304th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Syncere Burnette and Tristian Pretlow were among the main playmakers for Wakefield as the former scored 16 points along with three steals and the latter scored 22 points. Burnette is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Hampton Ferrell, who scored eight points.
Northern Guilford has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 20 points or more this season. They blew past North Davidson 71-50.
Wakefield pushed their record up to 9-0 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Northern Guilford, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.
