The loss was a bit of a surprise, as John Carroll Catholic came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 100th, while Altamont is ranked 257th).
Tanner Battle continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Altamont, scoring 18 points along with 4 steals. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Battle has scored at least 25% of Altamont's points. Payton Daniels was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
John Carroll Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Altamont, they pushed their record up to 6-5 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
