Basketball Recap: Austin Clement's Big Game Can't Quite Lead University Prep Academy over Crystal Springs Uplands

University Prep Academy has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 55-53 heartbreaker at the hands of the Crystal Springs Uplands Gryphons. The Golden Eagles were probably out for revenge after losing 58-51 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Several Golden Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Austin Clement, who posted 14 points. The dominant performance gave Clement a new career-high in points. Mussie Gebrehanna was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Crystal Springs Uplands to victory, but perhaps none more so than Remy Tyler, who made all 5 shots he took to post 15 points. Another player making a difference was Gavin Diaz, who put up 14 points.

University Prep Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Crystal Springs Uplands, their victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-6.

University Prep Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 52-45 win against The Nueva School on the 14th. As for Crystal Springs Uplands, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-48 loss against Priory on the 14th.
