The Southeast Pirates will head out to square off against the Alliance Aviators at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Southeast is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Southeast can't be too worried about heading out to take on Alliance: they just beat LaBrae at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Pirates put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 16-8 win on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Pirates.
Southeast let Lily Hayes and Morgan Muncy run wild. Hayes went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Muncy went 4-for-5 with one home run and four runs. That's the most runs Muncy has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Kirsten Harvey, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Southeast was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .526. Their batting average was a full 0 higher than the also-impressive .387 that LaBrae posted.
Meanwhile, Alliance had just enough and edged out Washington 3-2 on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Aviators in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won four in a row.
Alaina Minear spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Alliance saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Graham, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double. That double marked the first that Graham has hit this season.
Southeast's record is now 9-5. As for Alliance, their record now sits at 8-9.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Southeast hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .392. However, it's not like Alliance struggles in that department as they've averaged .312. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Southeast skirted past Alliance 3-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Aviators have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
