Macon-East Montgomery Academy's 25-7 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a 38-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lowndes Academy on Monday.
Despite their loss, Macon-East Montgomery Academy saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Keagan Roney, who scored six points along with 12 rebounds and three steals, was perhaps the best of all. Roney hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Jacob Johnson, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Springwood ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They secured a 59-55 W over Lakeside School. Given Springwood's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while Lakeside School is ranked 305th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Macon-East Montgomery Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Springwood, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1.
