The Red Cloud Warriors fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Silver Lake Mustangs on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Mustangs 39-34. Red Cloud was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Silver Lake apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Josie Rust, who scored 12 points. Adelynn Minnick was another key contributor, scoring 9 points.
Silver Lake was led to victory by Makenna Karr and Sophie Schmidt. Karr scored 11 points along with 8 rebounds, while Schmidt scored 13 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 steals. Another player making a difference was Morgan Dinkler, who scored 2 points along with 5 rebounds.
Red Cloud's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Silver Lake, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Red Cloud will head out on the road to face off against Lawrence-Nelson on Friday. Silver Lake won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Deshler at 6:00 p.m. on December 1st.
