The Cathedral Prep Ramblers will head out on the road to challenge the Harbor Creek Huskies at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Cathedral Prep is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Cathedral Prep proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 12) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over Meadville. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Ramblers have posted since April 16, 2024.
Derick Friedman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI.
Friedman wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was KJ Williams, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Williams has posted since back in April of 2024. Andrew Costello was another, going 2-for-3 with one run.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Harbor Creek ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They walked away with an 8-5 victory over Meadville.
Harbor Creek now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Cathedral Prep, their record is now 5-3.
