This season hasn't been kind to Rivendell Academy, who are still winless after their fifth matchup. They fell just short of Oxbow by a score of 30-28. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Rivendell Academy in their matchups with Oxbow: they've now lost four in a row.
Several Rivendell Academy players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Payton Gray, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds. Gray continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Lily Murray was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds.
Rivendell Academy bumped their record down to 0-5 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.5 points per game. As for Oxbow, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Rivendell Academy will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Sharon Academy at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Sharon Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Oxbow, they will be playing at home against Peoples Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
