Basketball Recap: Bre Gault's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Indian Creek over Owen Valley

Indian Creek was the 58-23 winner over Owen Valley when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Indian Creek Braves fell just short of the Owen Valley Patriots by a score of 36-34 on Friday.

Indian Creek lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Bre Gault, who posted four points along with nine boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave Gault a new career-high in boards. Reagan Ferris was another key player, putting up nine points.

Owen Valley found their leader in freshman Aubrey Sparks, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Sparks has scored at least a third of Owen Valley's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elizabeth Hogan, who had six points and three steals.

Indian Creek has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Owen Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season.

Indian Creek wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 64-24 win against Greencastle on the 7th. As for Owen Valley, they will head out to face off against Bloomington North at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bloomington North will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Owen Valley surely won't give up without a fight.
