The Jerome Tigers are taking a road trip to challenge the Wood River Wolverines at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Jerome is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
It was a proper cat-fight when Jerome took on Filer on Friday. The Tigers blew past the Wildcats 13-6. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Caleb Jones made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Jerome is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-8 otherwise. Jones was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Jerome let Cristian Orozco and Xaiden Van Tassell run wild. Orozco scored a run while going 2-for-2, while Van Tassell scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Orozco a new career-high in RBI (two). Sawyer Tilley was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.
Jerome kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Wood River didn't have quite enough to beat Burley on Wednesday and fell 8-6. The Wolverines haven't had much luck with the Bobcats recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Everett Carden was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
Wood River's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Jerome, their record now sits at 7-9.
Saturday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Jerome hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .340. However, it's not like Wood River struggles in that department as they've averaged .331. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Jerome might still be hurting after the 13-3 defeat they got from Wood River when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
