Football Recap: Christ the King Takes a Loss

After soaring to 40 points the game before, Christ the King was a bit more limited in their matchup on Saturday. They were outmatched by the St. John the Baptist Cougars and fell 38-6. The Royals haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Christ the King lost, don't look at Isaiah Smith. Despite the final result, he rushed for 184 yards and one score while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. Smith's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 156 rushing yards.

Leading St. John the Baptist to victory were Maurice Scott and Kalen Percer-Hogue. Scott rushed for 184 yards and a pair of TDs on only ten carries, while Percer-Hogue rushed for 118 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries.

Christ the King's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for St. John the Baptist, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-3.

Christ the King wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 44-6 victory against St. Dominic on the 25th. As for St. John the Baptist, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 27-26 win against Fordham Prep on the 26th.
