Aquinas Academy fell 48-38 to Avon Grove Charter. Aquinas Academy has struggled against Avon Grove Charter recently, as their game on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Avon Grove Charter's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Xavier London, who scored eight points. Joseph McGinley was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Aquinas Academy's defeat was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Avon Grove Charter, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Aquinas Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Tri-State Christian at 4:30 p.m. on February 6th. Tri-State Christian presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Aquinas Academy in their respective states (Tri-State Christian is ranked 64th in Maryland, while Aquinas Academy is ranked 263rd in Delaware). As for Avon Grove Charter, they will be playing at home against Fellowship of Christian Athletes at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Fellowship of Christian Athletes is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
