Hays has gone a perfect 9-0 against Lehman recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Hays Hawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lehman Lobos at 2:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Hays took a eight-run defeat the last time they faced off against Liberty Hill, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Hays sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-10 win over Liberty Hill on Monday. The victory was familiar territory for the Hawks, who have now won three games in a row.
Hays let Natalia Aleman and Teuila Eteaki run wild. Aleman fired off two home runs while going 3-for-3, while Eteaki went 4-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most hits Aleman has posted since back in March of 2024. Gabriella Lopez was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Hays kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Lehman had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Rouse 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lobos have posted since February 13th.
Carina Oliva spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Graciela Quiroz, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Ramirez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Hays' win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-6. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Lehman, their victory bumped their record up to 8-9-1.
Everything went Hays' way against Lehman in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Hays made off with a 15-1 win. Will Hays repeat their success, or does Lehman have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
