Softball Game Preview: Southlands Christian Eagles vs. Wilson Wildcats

The Southlands Christian Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Wilson Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Southlands Christian comes in on four and Wilson on three.

Southlands Christian is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 26-1 margin over Bethel Christian on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Daizia White made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Emily Acosta was a standout: she went 3-for-6 with six RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Analisa Guerrero, who scored five runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5.

Southlands Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive matchups.

While Wilson didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with an 8-5 win over Nogales two weeks ago. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Southlands Christian pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.1 runs over those games. As for Wilson, their record now sits at 5-1.
