Riverview extended their losing streak to eight on Monday, dropping their season record down to 7-26 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Grosse Ile Red Devils. The Pirates were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Red Devils earlier this season, when they won 2-1.

Jameson Gelineau put in work no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed over his last two contests. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with four stolen bases and five runs. Riverview is 2-1 when Gelineau posts two or more runs, but 5-25 otherwise.
In other batting news, Max Rebeka made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
As for Grosse Ile, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-15. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games.
Like Riverview, Grosse Ile also got a great game from a two-way player: Caleb Jones. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Jones has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in five of his seven plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Joe Keenan was excellent, getting on base in four of his seven plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted over his last eight games. Another player making a difference was Kolton Bodner, who went 2-for-5 with one run and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Riverview will square off against Airport at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Grosse Ile, they will face off against St. Mary Catholic Central at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Falcons/Kestrels' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Red Devils' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
