The Creekside Knights entered their tilt with the Ponte Vedra Sharks with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Creekside walked away with a 66-59 victory over Ponte Vedra on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Leading Creekside to victory were Derek Rivers and Ethan Tucker. Rivers scored 15 points along with two steals, while Tucker scored 18 points along with five rebounds. Rivers is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Garren Blaylock was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Ponte Vedra lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Trace Westercamp, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Westercamp has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Cowan, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Creekside's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-6. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points per game. As for Ponte Vedra, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Creekside will take on Fletcher at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ponte Vedra, they will head out on the road to square off against Atlantic Coast at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Atlantic Coast will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 663rd, while Ponte Vedra is ranked 84th).
