The Fort Mill Yellow Jackets can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Spring Valley 65-62. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fort Mill to victory, but perhaps none more so than Logan Parker, who scored 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Parker has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Nas Berry, who scored 16 points along with two steals.
When it comes to explaining why Spring Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Justin Skelton. Despite the final result, he scored 22 points along with five assists. That was a full 35.5% of Spring Valley's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Joshua Nelson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Even though they lost, Spring Valley were working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fort Mill only racked up seven assists.
Fort Mill's victory bumped their record up to 14-10. As for Spring Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fort Mill will take on the Blue Eagles at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Clover focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday. As for Spring Valley, they will be playing at home against the Falcons at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in South Carolina (Nation Ford is ranked 37th, while the Vikings are ranked 33rd).
