Manteo is 1-9 against Currituck County since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Manteo is taking a road trip to square off against Currituck County at 5:00 p.m. Manteo will be strutting in after a victory while Currituck County will be coming in after a defeat.
While Manteo didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against First Flight by a score of 6-1 on Friday.
Makenna Gray spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Bridgett Berry was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing five bases while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bailey Dickerson, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Berry wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Manteo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as First Flight only managed four hits.
Meanwhile, Currituck County came up short against Camden County on Friday and fell 7-3.
Morgan Eisel made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. That double was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Amelia Cervantes, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Currituck County's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 5-3. As for Manteo, their record is now 6-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Manteo has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Currituck County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Manteo couldn't quite get it done against Currituck County when the teams last played back in March of 2024 as they fell 7-4. Can Manteo avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
