Marksville and Rapides are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2014, but not for long. The Marksville Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Rapides Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Marksville has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Marksville pushed their score all the way to 66 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 73-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lafayette Christian Academy. While losing is never fun, Marksville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while Lafayette Christian Academy is ranked third).
Meanwhile, even though Glenmora scored an imposing 66 points on Thursday, Rapides still came out on top. Rapides came out on top in a nail-biter against Glenmora and snuck past 68-66.
Christopher Newton continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. The match was his tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zayveian Johnson, who scored 15 points along with 9 rebounds.
Marksville has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season. As for Rapides, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.
Marksville skirted past Rapides 59-56 in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Marksville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
