The Corry Beavers will head out to face off against the Sharon Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Corry took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 win over Grove City. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Beavers have posted since April 7, 2025.
Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Sharon walked away with it. They put the hurt on the Yellowjackets with a sharp 11-0 win on Tuesday. Considering the Tigers have won 12 contests by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Madelyn Vogan made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Alauna Wilson was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Marley Bundrant was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
The victory keeps Sharon at an undefeated 19-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 9.9 runs this season. As for Corry, their record is now 8-3.
Corry came up short against Sharon in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 5-0. Can the Beavers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
