Molly Flynt and Josie Bobko were among the main playmakers for Fairview as the former had nine digs and six aces and the latter had ten digs. That's the most aces Flynt has posted over her last eight contests.
They weren't the only good servers: Fairview was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 22 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least nine aces in eight consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Independence suffered their biggest loss since October 5, 2024 on Saturday. They lost 3-0 to Lake Catholic. The Blue Devils have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Independence took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-14, 25-16.
Fairview will have to keep a close watch on Sofia Pichert and Anna Jirmasek, a pair of players who had a big impact on Independence's prior game. Pichert had ten digs and two assists, while Jirmasek had nine digs and three aces.
Fairview's victory bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Independence, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Monday's matchup: Fairview has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 14.1 aces per game. However, it's not like Independence struggles in that department as they've been averaging 12.6 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
