Woodbridge has gone a perfect 5-0 against Freedom recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Vikings will head out on the road to square off against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Woodbridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.3 runs per game this season.
Woodbridge gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on Hylton with a sharp 14-7 win. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won six matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Woodbridge let Bobbi Tate and Kiyah Carroll run wild. Tate went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base, while Carroll went 3-for-4 with three runs and three RBI. That's the most RBI Tate has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Drzewucki, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Woodbridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Freedom's offense. They lost 12-0 to Charles J. Colgan on Friday. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Sharks recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.
Woodbridge has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.8 runs over those games. As for Freedom, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.
Freedom's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Woodbridge has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. It's a different story for Freedom, though, as they've been averaging 15 hits. Given Woodbridge's sizable advantage in that area, the Eagles will need to find a way to close that gap.
Woodbridge took their win against Freedom when the teams last played last Friday by a conclusive 33-1 score. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
