Marcellus is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Chittenango is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Mustangs will welcome the Bears at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Thursday, Marcellus made easy work of Westhill and carried off a 12-3 win.
Carly Sears made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Sears was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Millie Novitsky, who went 4-for-5 with four RBI and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Mariah Kolm, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs.
Marcellus kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Chittenango won against Christian Brothers Academy on Thursday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Bears put the hurt on Jamesville-DeWitt with a sharp 11-1 victory.
Like Marcellus, Chittenango also got a great game from a two-way player: Lauren Machan. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Machan has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Karalynne Carmon was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season. Ruby Roach was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Marcellus picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 5-3. As for Chittenango, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Marcellus has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.5 hits per game. However, it's not like Chittenango struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Marcellus was able to grind out a solid win over Chittenango when the teams last played back in May of 2025, winning 10-6. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
