Loogootee and Orleans are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Lions will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Loogootee has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Orleans will arrive with four straight wins.
Loogootee lost 9-3 to Shakamak on Friday.
Jocelynn Sims was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.
Meanwhile, Orleans got themselves on the board against South Central on Saturday, but South Central never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Rebels. With that victory, the Bulldogs brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Ella Owens made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Owens was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Adrian Abel was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Cambree Cline was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Orleans always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .560. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Central only posted an OBP of .167.
Orleans' win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 6.3 runs this season. As for Loogootee, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Loogootee has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Orleans struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Loogootee suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Orleans in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Lions have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
