The Blue Valley Tigers will face off against the Olathe North Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Blue Valley comes in on three and Olathe North on five.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Blue Valley had no problem doing just that on Friday. They didn't even let Olathe East onto the board and left with a 17-0 victory.
Among those leading the charge was John Price, who rushed for 96 yards and a touchdown, and also caught a touchdown. Grady Westphal also helped out with an impressive 93 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Olathe North faced Blue Valley West in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Everything went Olathe North's way against Blue Valley West on Friday as Olathe North made off with a 35-14 win. Considering Olathe North has won six matchups by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Tj Porter was his usual excellent self, rushing for 186 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry, and also picking up 39 receiving yards. Porter has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last four times he's played.
Blue Valley is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season. As for Olathe North, they pushed their record up to 9-1 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home.
Blue Valley came up short against Olathe North in their previous meeting back in November of 2020, falling 28-21. Can Blue Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
