The Cienega Bobcats were the 52-50 winner over the Tucson High Magnet School Badgers when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Cienega fell 51-41 to Tucson High Magnet School on Thursday. Cienega has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Cienega lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Mia Kelley, who scored 12 points along with four steals. Elizabeth Puente was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Cienega has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for Tucson High Magnet School, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cienega will take on Desert View at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Desert View has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 14. As for Tucson High Magnet School, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Nogales at 6:00 p.m. on January 15th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Nogales is ranked 106th, while Tucson High Magnet School is ranked 99th).
