The Sacred Heart Prep Gators will look to defend their home field on Saturday against the Monterey Dores at 1:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Menlo School typically have all the answers at home, but on Friday Sacred Heart Prep proved too difficult a challenge. Sacred Heart Prep walked away with a 31-19 victory over Menlo School. The win made it back-to-back wins for Sacred Heart Prep.
Sacred Heart Prep got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jack Stevens out in front who picked up 90 receiving yards and a touchdown. Anthony Noto was another key contributor, rushing for 83 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Monterey can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They claimed a resounding 50-13 victory over Seaside on the road. 50 seems to be a good number for Monterey as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Monterey's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Preston White, who rushed for 24 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 157 yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Enobong Wirth, who rushed for 58 yards and two touchdowns.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Monterey's defense and their five sacks. In that department, Eric Valdez was the leader with two sacks.
Sacred Heart Prep is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. As for Monterey, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.
Saturday's game might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Sacred Heart Prep has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 195.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Monterey struggles in that department as they've been averaging 182 per game. It's looking like Saturday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
