The Amundsen Vikings will challenge the Niles West Wolves at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. Amundsen will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Amundsen came out on top against Saint Viator on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Vikings took their matchup against the Lions 8-3.
Cassidy Carter made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Carter was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Lydia Hulliberger and Ashley Ellevog did most of the damage at the plate: Hulliberger got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Ellevog went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Hulliberger is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Skylar Shelist, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
The home team had won the previous seven meetings between Niles West and Niles North, and Niles North kept the tradition alive. The Wolves fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. Having soared to a lofty 22 runs in the game before, the Wolves couldn't push the score so high this time.
Niles West saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Hester, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Niles West's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-9. As for Amundsen, their victory bumped their record up to 12-5.
Niles West's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Amundsen has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .437. It's a different story for Niles West, though, as they've only averaged .333. Will they be able to contain Amundsen's hitters?
Amundsen skirted past Niles West 5-3 in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolves turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
