The Broughton Capitals's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Athens Drive Jaguars at 6:30 p.m. on February 13th. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Last Friday, Broughton came up short against Sanderson and fell 56-46. While losing is never fun, Broughton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 209th, while Sanderson is ranked 102nd).
Despite the defeat, Broughton had strong showings from Jordan Page, who scored nine points along with five rebounds, and Hudson Fitzgerald, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chauncey Sumpter, who scored six points.
Meanwhile, Athens Drive's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight defeat. They received a tough blow as they fell 64-48 to Enloe.
Broughton's loss dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Athens Drive, they dropped their record down to 5-17 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.
Broughton beat Athens Drive 68-59 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for Broughton since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
