Muir had lost four straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped down to 13-9 to make it five. They came up short against the Arcadia Apaches, falling 13-6. The Mustangs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Apaches earlier this season, when they won 5-4.

Sidney Sims was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles.
In other batting news, Gigi Butler was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those stolen bases were her first of the season.
As for Arcadia, their win bumped their record up to 14-5-2. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Like Muir, Arcadia also got a great game from a two-way player: Peyton Fox. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up six earned runs off nine hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave Fox a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Cecile Crowder was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kylie Liang, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Muir has already played their next game, a 14-2 loss against Crescenta Valley on the 28th. As for Arcadia, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Burroughs on the 28th.
